International Political Earthquakes gathers a lifetime of thinking about the causes of international conflict, examining how international crises evolve in response to changes in the global political system. Uniquely, the book looks at crises both as dependent variables, indicative of international stability , and as independent variables—"political earthquakes" that shape the structure and content of international relations themselves.

Micheal Brecher is R.B. Angus Professor of Political Science at McGill University.
